IMPORTANCE OF ROUTINE DENTAL EXAM

A professional dental cleaning is part of a routine preventive exam at Rockville Dental Studio. In addition to brushing and flossing, visiting us at least twice a year for your teeth cleaning helps us catch and prevent common tooth problems, such as tooth decay and gum disease. When oral health problems are caught early, they are easier and less expensive to treat and have less chance of causing you trouble in the future.

Here are some things you may need to do to prepare for your dental exam:

DURING THE DENTAL EXAM AND CLEANING

When you come into our office for a routine dental and cleaning visit, a few things will take place. Our goal is to remove plaque and tartar from your teeth using our specialized equipment. A dentist will take a closer look by taking x-rays (bitewings) that examine the alignment of your upper and lower teeth, locate interproximal tooth decay, and discover bone loss due to infection or serious gum disease. Teeth will be flossed and polished. Fluoride treatment will be placed on patients with moderate to high caries risk.
